Ghost Recon Live Action Trailer Will Blow You Away

E-mail Print PDF

Before I even heard about the announcement of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, I was ready to give Ubisoft my 60 dollars for a sequel to G.R.A.W2. I don't know what it is about live action trailers, but I always find myself getting really pumped up and excited for the games release. The live action trailer for Halo 3: ODST was eye opening and breathtaking, and with this Ghost Recon live action trailer, I am left with hope that more games attempt this approach for a trailer. The trailer seems to have some teasers such as robot drones and Harry Potter like cloaking devices, but at the moment no gameplay footage has been revealed to the public.

Lagging Behind: Dead Space

Dead Space

"Lagging Behind" is going to be my final thoughts on a game that I haven't got around to playing. For the game to qualify for this segment, It has to have been available to the public for at least 6 months.

When I first saw Dead Space in action around the time of it's release, it left the impression that it was a trying to do something different with it's HUDless approach. Adding no HUD to the tight dark environments, it was the perfect stage for a survival horror game. But the problem with Dead Space is that a monster can only pop out of a corner so many times before it loses it novelty. But what doesn't lose it's novelty is the dismemberment of the creepy crawlies, then picking up it's leg and shooting it back at it's face.

If I could describe the main Character Isaac in one word, it would be Unlucky. Every time you set out to complete an objective, something ALWAYS goes wrong and side tracks you for a moment. At times this can be an annoyance and it feels like they are artificially stretching the game further, just to add some more play time. I appreciate the developers adding more content to the game, but I just wish they better incorporated these chains of unfortunate events. Needless to say, Dead Space was enjoyable from start to finish, and there were sections such as the Zero Gravity puzzles rooms, that I wished showed up more often because of how creative and fun they were. After paying no attention to Dead Space 2, I look forward to seeing more dismembered limbs on the floor, and flying through the Zero Gravity rooms.

Brink Cinematic Trailer

E-mail Print PDF

Splash Damage and Bathesda have been slowly revealing more and more about Brink through videos such as the S.M.A.R.T system, and this cinematic trailer. Every time I look at Brink's artstyle, I am immediately reminded of Shadowrun for the Xbox 360. This isn't a bad thing because Shadowrun had a lot of potential to be something great. Like Shadowrun, Brink is striving for something unique, which seems to reserve a spot in my brain to remember Brink this Fall. Besides the fact that cinematic trailers are freaking cool, they don't reveal much about how the game will play; but I assure you that more will be known about Brink this coming E3.

Blur Beta Impressions

Blur

Blur is a game that I have been following for while now, not only because it's described as Mario Kart with real cars, it's because I'm looking for a racer that will keep my attention. After starting my first race I was a little disappointed with the way the cars handled. Cars felt like they weren't responding enough to my sharp movements, and turning feels like it could be better. If it controlled similarly to Burnout Paradise where you could maneuver your car precisely, then I would praise Blur for bringing Mario Kart outside of Nintendo.

What makes Blur stand out is the power-ups you can use against your opponents. With each hit and explosion being set off with shapes and colors flying in ever direction, you see the influence from Geometry Wars Evolved. In the end, Blur is still in the Beta stage, so it's understandable that some tune ups are required before it's release. Blur is an interesting game, and if you want to know more than try to get a beta code, or wait for it's release on May 25 in the U.S. and May 28 for Europe.
